Millis Garden Club Scholarship

Scholarships

The Millis Garden Club offers a scholarship to high school seniors who will be college freshmen in the fall. 

High school award winners are announced at graduation.  Award checks are disbursed after proof of enrollment is provided.

The 2022 scholarship was $1,000 and was offered in memory of Janice Simpson, beloved long-time Millis Garden Club member and former Millis teacher. There was a huge outpouring of donations in Janice's memory. Thank you to all who contributed. See "News & Events" for information on our scholarship winner. 

CRITERIA

 

The scholarship is available for students majoring in:

  • horticulture

  • floriculture

  • landscape design or architecture

  • conservation

  • forestry or agronomy

  • city planning

  • environmental studies

  • land management

  • botany

  • biology

  • renewable energy or allied subjects

 

Applicants must --

  • have maintained a legal residence in Millis for at least one year,

  • have a minimum “B” average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale),

  • have good character, and

  • have financial need.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Millis High School seniors Scholarship application forms and instructions can be obtained from the school. For additional information on how to obtain, complete, and submit the application, contact Erika Harkey in the School Counseling Office, 508-376-7010. The 2023 deadline will be published here when known. 

  • Other high school seniors: If you are a Millis resident but attend another school, public or private, you will want to conform to your school's scholarship application instructions, including any change to the April 24 due date. A copy of the garden club's supplemental application can be found here. Please coordinate with your guidance office. Use the contact box below to ask the garden club any questions.

Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts (GCFM) Scholarships

Approximately 11 different scholarships are offered by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts (GCFM), the Millis Garden Club's parent organization.  Only one application form is needed to apply for all. Complete details are available on the GCFM website.
