Programs & Meetings 2022-23

Moving forward our meetings will be more informal. We are currently working on organizing some social programs where we can all gather, catch up, and talk about our favorite topic - GARDENS!

In April 2023 we are co-sponsoring a program with the Garden Club of Norfork featuring hydrangeas by Andy Ross. Stay tuned for more information as the date draws nearer.

The Millis Garden Club continues to maintain containers at civic sites around town, the "Welcome to Millis" garden, and the Pump Station garden. We will send out requests for assistance as needed. Please seriously consider an hour or so of your time to help maintain these beautiful sites.

Please do not hesitate to contact the leadership team with any ideas, thoughts, concerns or offers of assistance, including get-togethers for a lunch, field trip, garden stroll, and so forth. We can help organize and publicize information about where and when.

New England's Botanical Garden at Tower Hill

We continue to sponsor Tower Hill passes! The passes are held at the Millis Public Library and are available to any individual that carries a Millis library card. Each pass allows two patrons to attend the New England Botanical Garden at Tower Hill for half price.

Dues, Please!

The Millis Garden Club's 2022-23 annual dues will remain at $20 this year. Visit the Membership page for more information.

Millis Beautification Day

A big thank you to all who helped, Millis Beautification Day was a very big success! We had a total of 100 workers, 60 of whom were community volunteers - up from 45 last year - and 28 sites were cleaned, up from 24 sites in 2021.

Millis Community Garden

The Millis Garden Club has sponsored a raised garden bed at the Millis Church of Christ community garden. Our sponsorship provides the raised cedar bed filled with garden soil, which is then offered to anyone in the Millis community who would like to garden but lacks the space or adequate sunlight. Information can be found at Millis Community Garden or by emailing millisuccgarden@gmail.com.

2022 Scholarship Winner

The Millis Garden Club's 2022 scholarship was awarded to Millis High School senior Carlson Cantoreggi.  The scholarship team was impressed with Carlson's interest in agriculture and enterprising nature. As half owner of a logging business, Carlson cuts and delivers wood to customers and is also involved in landscaping and tree projects. He will be attending Mississippi State College as an Agriculture major.

This year's $1,000 scholarship was offered in memory of Janice Simpson, beloved long-time Millis Garden Club member and former Millis teacher. There was a huge outpouring of donations in Janice's memory. Thank you to all who contributed and helped make this scholarship possible. Carlson is very appreciative!

Visit the Scholarships page for more information on the Millis Garden Club Scholarship as well as a link to a variety of scholarship opportunities offered by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.
